Saint Barbara: Ordnance Blessing

$30.00

This piece was a prayer. I painted it during a moment when I felt like I needed to reconnect with something sacred. Saint Barbara, protector of ordnance workers and EOD techs, has always had a special place in my heart. I imagined her not as a distant saint, but as a woman—powerful, scarred, soft, and holy. This one moved me deeply. It felt like a blessing poured out of me.

The halo gleams behind her head, golden and cracked with age like antique glass. She wears a rich crimson robe that contrasts against a cool gray background. Her torso is bare, exposed and vulnerable, but her expression is serene, almost mournful. The painting blends iconography with realism, drawing from Renaissance religious portraits but anchoring the figure in raw humanity. She’s a divine figure grounded in truth.
