Bust of the Weeping Maiden

$30.00

This painting came from a place of stillness. I imagined sorrow made solid, like grief frozen in time. The woman doesn’t weep openly—she bows her head, quiet and composed, but the sadness is unmistakable. I’ve felt this posture in my own body during tough moments. I needed to carve it out of the silence and give it a voice. While painting it, I felt contemplative—like I was building a monument to invisible pain.

The piece is presented like a classical bust, with a muted umber and sienna underpainting that bathes everything in earthy tones. The figure is slightly desaturated, with restrained coloration on her cheeks and chest to hint at life beneath the stone. The composition is centered and balanced, traditional in structure but emotionally modern. Brushwork is soft, blending into the background, evoking melancholy and nostalgia.
